Writer/Author John Hersey

"Journalism allows its readers to witness history; fiction gives its readers an opportunity to live it." - John Hersey (b. June 17, 1914)

John Hersey was a Yale graduate who became a journalistic writer. He wrote articles for Time Magazine, Life magazine (when they were two separate entities),andThe New Yorker.

Hersey was one of the first journalists to arrive in Hiroshima after the atomic bomb and was assigned to write about the people there who witnessed and lived through the disaster. His focus was on six individuals whose stories were compiled into the book Hiroshima in 1946.

Pick the book up, take a look inside, and you'll witness an excellent writer.
